Edgestar Ultra Low Temp Home Brew Dual Tap Kegerator with Kegs 3.8 5 4 5
Excellent Product I received this from my wife as a Christmas present, along with two corny kegs,CO2 bottle and conversion kit (sankey tap to corny taps). The kegerator arrived very quickly in great condition, was easy to set up, and is doing its job well. January 1, 2014
KC2000 Duel Happiness Despensing Unit The only reason(s) I gave 4 stars is were the following. 1: Had to do the thermostat fix as it would only reach 40-42 deg on the coldest setting. Now on slightly above the warmest setting its at 34-36...may have to back off set screw another half turn. I have had to fine adjust therm set screw 3 times. first time it froze everything, lucky no kegs just a few bottles of beer that survived the harsh conditions (don't worry they thawed just fine in my fridge#. I contacted Edgestar about this and they said..." we will send you another thermostat free of charge it should be calibrated just fine so don't adjust set screw" I will keep it as a spare but was happy about the quick no questions response and help replacing the part I told them might still work fine.. 2: After placing the HomeBrew conversion kit on I wanted to run a commercial Keg with my home brew until I have another batch ready. With the conversion it is nice you can still thread on the D coupler and do this but it sits very high off the keg and almost crimps the Beer line against the roof of the unit. 3: no insulated beer tower Now for the good points. 1: Fits two kegs nicely with room for a few 22 bottles and a jar of water with thermometer. 2: Was easy to run copper tubing over the beer lines in tower and a PC fan to circulate cold air #people will say they shouldn't have to do this but don't realize $7xx for a kegerator with two Corny kegs and conversion kits is soooo inexpensive...that's why...the ones with these features are way over $1000 with no kegs# 3: easy to reach c02 controls on back. # I'd suggest buying a duel gauge and a manifold if you run 2 kegs the T is garbage# 4: Tech support was great at returning calls and sending out a replacement thermostat even when I told them it was starting to warm up after adjusting the set screw again. Over all I would purchase this again and would recommend it. I think with the duel tap ones the manifold they sell separately should be included It's the only real way to turn on and off c02 to each keg. It is a decently good product for a spectacular price. It does its job as advertised. June 17, 2014
Continuous Cracking Noise Drives Me Crazy I bought this dual tap kegerator at the beginning of January. Everything arrived in numerous shipments, and once i got to putting it all together, it didn't take long to make it operational. It was actually smaller than i was expecting, but it appears to house two soda kegs easily. I wanted to keep the CO2 (and regulator) inside in order to save space, but i've since moved it outside because i couldn't adjust the regulator pressures with the kegs inside (not enough room). Let me mention now, that the regulator i was sold with this kit was absolutely garbarge! It was a 'secondary' regulator (at best), and should not be used in this set up. It was provided with a T-shaped manifold to split the pressure to two kegs. But any homebrewer knows this is unacceptable as most different beer styles have to be kept at varying pressures. This regulator does not allow for this. It's not a dual gauge either, which means you cannot see how much CO2 remains in the tank. I have since purchased (for $115) a dual output regulator, which will supply two different pressures to each keg, as well as tell me how much CO2 i have. Now, onto my main issue of contention. This kegerator makes a lot of noise! I read reviews about how noisy the compressor was when it switches on, but that doesn't really bother me too much. It's to be expected, and i've grown used to it. I live in a condo, so this unit resides in my main living space. What is really driving me crazy is the constant cracking noise. I'm not sure where it's coming from, but i think it might be the body (or shell) of the unit. The noise sounds like the material is contracting and/or flexing due to the temperature changes. I have this unit set to about 45F so the compressor comes on every so often (more so if i open the door), but the cracking occurs every couple of minutes, both day and night. I'm glad i bought an extended warranty, because i'm going to investigate this further and possibly get a technician out to inspect it more closely. I really hope something can be done about it. Works as expected, but is very noisy. You can't really put it in a common area, which kinda defeats the purpose. Assembly was easy, though the instructions weren't the best for converting to homebrew system. October 22, 2013
