Summit Commercial Beverage Merchandiser
Had trouble leveling
When we took it out of the box, the first thing we noticed was the door was not aligned properly. We also noted that the bottom was not level. One corner was considerably shorter than the other. Upon further inspection, we found that the unit had a manufacturing defect. I was able to disassemble that corner and using a hammer straighten out and lengthen the corner post and after reassembly was able to get the unit level. I would not recommend anyone else attempting this unless you have mechanical experience. Most units will probably not have this issue. I am thinking this was probably just a one off unit.

Noisy, but reasonably cold
My husband and I bought the Summit fridge to replace an old Avanti under the bar in our "pub" because the Avanti never would get as cold as we wanted it to (low to mid 40s). It's difficult to know if the temperature on the Summit is correct because loading a six pack of beer bottles into it will cause it read up to 54 for at least 8 hours even though bottles that were already in the fridge are considerably colder. We got another thermometer to try to figure out how cool it was and were able to confirm that it eventually does get down to an average of 36 degrees if you don't open the door or add any more bottles. (My husband insists on serving beer at 38 which is warmer than I like, but he can just wait a few minutes and the beer will warm up.) The biggest problem with it is the noise. We initially tested it in the room, and it was so loud we had to turn the tv volume up. When we put it under the bar, it did help reduce the noise somewhat. It's a nice looking unit so it's the kind of thing you wouldn't mind having easily visible, but it's so noisy that you might think twice before putting it in a room where there's quiet conversation or intense movie viewing. A light does not come on when you open the door--you must do that manually.

We purchased this product for our basement bar/gameroom area. We wanted a clear front door to be able to see what was in there and the LED lighting is a nice feature. My only complaint about the product is the quality of the shelving that comes with the product. We are only currently using two shelves to be able to accomodate beer bottles standing. If you load more than several drinks on the shelf it immediately begins to bow. I think it will hold the drinks fine, but with the clear front door it looks bad when all the bottles are leaning to the middle due to the shelf's stability. My father was able to weld an extra support to the shelf and it blends in very well and it is amazing the difference in support. I would rcommend that summit reinforce the shelving with an extra rod in the front, back, and middle to give it a much more secure base or use a higher quality shelf to begin with using stronger material. I also wish the LED had the option of staying on for more than 5 minutes at a time. It would look nice if it could stay lit longer. Overall the product has kept the beverages very cold and that is a plus.

Great looking - Poor shelving
Absolutely love the look and design of this unit.
Absolutely hate the fact that the wire used in the shelving pieces are little more than the thickness of a coat hanger. Not really that skinny but definitely a problem.
Loading the shelves with bottled beverages instantly caused the shelves to sag in the middle.
An email note to the manufacturer inquiring as to whether there was an alternative solution to this was met with "We do not have a resolution for this problem, these are the only shelves that are available for this model."
Not sure I we want to go through the hassle of returning the product or not but it certainly don't look good when your bottled beverages (which are visible through the glass doors) tilt and fall over.
